Yorkshire were mean! Mean and Horrid! And unfortunately for them Lanks and Durham were much nicer to their ex England stars. So yes tough times ahead, and now with no local born hero to encourage the young next generation talent.
Stani I think not - his value beyond what he can offer on the pitch is huge. You just cant buy in a local born talent with such an international record, his value to Yorkshire was unique. He is intelligent and I'm sure could have negotiated if given the chance as he will have to settle for less now anyway. And move his family.
But he was up against Yorkshire. They have a history of poor man management - all their stars tend to leave. Also he is a bowler - and bowlers tend to get treated like shit.
Durham are hardly paying Harmison peanuts, [although he currently cuts a more threatening figure in county level bowling] they managed to work it out, and they know his true value.
Players such as Joyce and Ramprakash I believe get even more.
Petition - I'd be right there if it was any county other than Yorkshire! As long as he gets his contract sorted it will be the Souths gain as we shall be able to see more of Hoggy in London!
Nightwatchgirl's Pick of the Cricket News this week
NWG would like to advertise herself. For once. She advises you all to listen to this podcast and note all the kind things they say about NWG...
As you are all aware, NWG is actually Kate Middleton and she is soon off on her tour of North America. Fear not, she will be telling everyone the rules of cricket. Especially at the big party they are throwing for her. NWG believes that she can spread the word. Before you know it, England will be playing the US in the World Cup.
The captaincy has become ridiculous. Allowing baby-face Stuart to captain a side when he's clearly not even old enough to buy alcohol from NWG's local Anglesey Waitrose is shocking. Totes.
ENGLAND ARE WORLD TWENTY20 CHAMPIONS. OH YEAH, THEY ALSO HAVE RETAINED THE ASHES.
NWG would like to thank Patrick Kidd at The Times for putting NWG in the top 50 cricket blogs in the world. She is overwhelmed.
Andrew Symonds makes bold statement: "I'm in a position of responsibility and I can't live irresponsibly. I've realised that." Groundbreaking. (NWG can't bear to take this down)
Ashes Forum
Come and check out the new Ashes Forum on Silly Point with Nightwatchgirl. Don't be shy...
It is my mission to make cricket understandable to all. So along with cricket news, there will also be explanations of particular rules and any other weird business that happens on or off a cricket field.
If you have any questions please email me: nightwatchgirl@gmail.com

Mean, Horrid and F""king stupid!
Totally agree, sixsixeight. NWG and you should start a petition.
Hoggard was too greedy - simple.

Sixsixeight - Yes! NWG totally agrees. London doesn't get enough of Matthew.
Stani - go and immediately wash your mouth out with soap. Now.
668,
Exactly, so why didn't he just accept the contract they offered...the one that was on the table for a year. I bet he's regretting it now.
...and your right about him being huge on the pitch :)
Nightmare,
You know I never say bad about anyone [flutter eyelids and angelic smile].
